May Day Festival, May 1, 2019 at 7pm
On Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 7PM, the Museum proudly host its Annual May Day Festival. Plans call for instrumental and vocal performances of folk and labor music by George Mann with Marty Confurius and Al Podber, the New Jersey Industrial Union Council (IUC) "Solidarity Singers," and lyric soprano Annamaria Stefanelli. Light refreshments will be served, tours of the Museum will be offered, and shopping in the Museum Store will be available. There is an admission fee of $10. per person.
George Mann (georgemannmusic.com) performs concerts that are part sing-along and part history lesson. The "Solidarity Singers" will present a special tribute to folksinger Pete Singer in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. Annamaria Stefanelli (annamariastefanelli.com), recognized for her strong dramatic presence and true Italian lyric soprano sound, will perform opera arias popular among working people in the early 20th century.
In addition, Michele Fazio, Ph.D. will discuss her exhibit A Neglected Legacy: Reclaiming a Radical Past, which opens at the Museum on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 7PM. The exhibit is on view May 1st - August 24th, 2019.
